The Leadership Case for Sustained Peace; African Youths.
“In Union There is Strength”
Imagine if in the 60s, Africa had mostly youths who are social
agents for peace, with high motives to driving Africa to lofty height, by now we
would have been in advancement and development and a pace setter
across globe. That is just happening now. My write up aim is to magnify leadership roles as a
fostering tool for Peaceful coexistence and to strengthen the delivery of peace
dividends to communities living across Africa.
1.0 An exemplary community mindset to fostering an enabling environment.
one of her event |
Recently I was in solidarity with another female
fellow African inspirational life coach and conveyor of (Balmofgilead Global foundation)
her goals with the foundation as rightly
depicted is to help youths and under privileged individuals to see the untapped opportunities that abound them, In her words, she said
“We help you shape your relationship with people and your creator, motivate and inspire you to bring out the best in you, we are interested in helping you set your priorities right, to live a life of content and peace even as you excel in all areas of your life”

Not too long ago, she held an event workshop that
featured professional trainers and life coach titled “living a purpose driven
life for excellence” with an impressive attendees from all works of life, and
was an eye opener to African youths to set themselves beyond the box and
explore various means to actively sustain themselves. A CONSTRUCTIVE
YOUTH ENGAGEMENT EFFORT, one of the pyramidal components to sustained peace. We need more Leaders like this across globe.
2.0 Africa is set for change, and mostly, the youths are obviously delivery the social change in tranquility
The above narrative is one of the numerous leadership attributes
brewed among the youths, yes the youths are now giving a global message that
they can be the useful tools needed to foster a developed and peaceful Africa. As
an impact many of my outreach in collaborative efforts with other acclaimed leaders
across Africa, small or big, leadership roles displayed by African youths are
helping to create a positive narrative for their communities as evidently seen,
their initiatives has helped to rejuvenate activities of
the Council of Traditional Authority Leaders in conflict mitigation and
community dialogue on natural resource use. In another
effort such efforts has helped in the creation and
training of village-level development committees in peace building and conflict
prevention, natural resource management and record-keeping helped strengthen
capacities and increase awareness of the local communities to organize
themselves for better access to services and sharing of common resources.
Also we have been in touch with individuals that influences
youths and women engagement to do more to empower their followers the people
they rule. This include the participation of women and youth in the community
development committees increased their ability to influence decision-making
processes. Also the identification and demarcation of cattle routes helped to
reduce tensions between farmers and pastoralists. In the long run, formidable environment
and impeccable understanding is attainable.
3.0 THE PRESSURE FOR NATURAL REVOLUTION IS BUILDING UP, BUT CAN BE CUT OFF CONSTRUCTIVELY.
What is Africa doing
with the youths? Are they involved in peaceful activities and economic
development? or still struggling to get recognition by the system? Are they
mentored? or systematically tortured?. The Youth and African Union Commission says
that 65% of the total population of Africa is between the ages of 18 and 35.
This automatically makes Africa the most youthful planet with an average age of
20. The population of Africa currently is around 600 million. According to the
definition by the African Union, youth in Africa are considered to be between
the age of 18 and 35. If there is anyone that needs to talk about the future and well-being
of Africa, then the youth need to be a part of that conversation. The youth
offer sustainability for the future. Anything started now that involves the
youth is bound to continue, one is certain that it will live many more years to
come. So they must be involved at every hemisphere of national
activities, decision making, and production.
Empower a woman or a girl child, change a family or nation for eternity! Let's encourage a safe motherhood despite our race. Empowering rural households is a major method to end poverty and hunger, hence We all have to support agriculture in any little way we can to eradicate hunger. Information is the real power in today's world which can make the real changes. We have to pursue each and every affordable chances in making a better planet. Information is now leading the earth and empowering people with it is something to facilitate them towards tomorrow's change-makers.
4.0 Title: “In Union There is Strength”
I wrap it off with this
Author: Mary Church Terrell
Year: 1897
Money we need, money we must have to accomplish much which we
ape to effect. But it is not by powerful armies and the outlays of vast
fortunes that the greatest revolutions are wrought and the most enduring
reforms inaugurated. It is by the silent, though powerful force of individual
influences thrown on the side of right, it is by arduous persistence and effort
keep those with whom we come in daily contact, to enlighten the heathen our
door, to create wholesome public sentiment in the communities in hick we live,
that the heaviest blows are struck for virtue and right. Let us not only
preach, but practice race unity, race pride, reverence, and respect for those
capable of leading and advising us. Let the youth of the race be impressed
about the dignity of labor and inspired with a desire to work. Let us do
nothing to handicap children in the desperate struggle for existence in which
their unfortunate condition in this country forces them to engage. Let us
purify the atmosphere of our homes till it become so sweet it those who dwell
in them will have a heritage more precious than silver or gold.
Samuel Adewumi is a dogged and resilient realist peace builder.
